George Washington Birthplace is open year round except for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. Picnic area is open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, November-February, and 9:00 AM to dusk, March-October. Admission is free. Alcohol is prohibited. Pets must be on a leash. Restrooms, water fountain and electrical outlet are not available at the site November-March. Ranger led tours of the historic area are held on the hour, with the first tour at 10:00 AM and the last tour at 4:00 PM. Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states.
